About the Cadence CR10 13ft 8in Power Feeder #4

Developed as a specialised power feeder rod for casting big and heavy feeders on powerful rivers. The progressive action gives a lovely playing action when big fish are hooked and helps to land them efficiently and easily. The longer length also helps when casting long distances and to help lift as much line out the water as possible. The rod is not supplied with quiver tips as they are simply not required when feeder fishing or ledgering in these situations (The Test Curve of the tip would equate to 6oz). This versatile power feeder rod could also be used as a long-range power float rod when targeting big carp on lakes and reservoirs or even when float fishing for big barbel and chub on rivers.

  • Powerful and robust blank design
  • Oversized Fuji Alconite guides throughout
  • Fuji DPS-HPS Reel seat
  • AAA Cork handle with high-quality EVA

Received my CR10 13’8 feeder this week and couldn’t wait to give it a test on our local rivers. On seeing the rod I was very impressed, looked the part for sure. I live in Holland and bought this rod to do battle with the barbel this year. Even though conditions are not right after the heavy flooding I wanted to test the rod to it’s limit on one of the fastest flowing rivers here, the Ijssel. To be honest I wasn’t out to catch fish but to see how it performed during use. Sadly the current was extra strong and even with a 150g flat lead it just ran down stream and parallel to the bank in seconds. Here 200g plus is not rare but I didn’t have that sort of metalwork with me to test further. Other than a few pumps with a 40g rocket feeder to see what distance it could do, and 70-80 yards was easy, the session was over. That said, the rod felt good and balanced even loaded up. I decided to go to another river and area to get some bites from whatever and learn about this new item of mine and hopefully not blank on the first outing! Venue #2 had flow but still needed a 60g wire grip feeder to hold. Casting was easy and accurate and everything was under control. The lack of spare tops was a concern now as I was on a smoother venue but when I got a bite… no issue. As I wanted to test the rod in all situations I went lighter but only the hook size with a 16′ with two or three maggots and a castor with that ‘anything that swims idea’. The bright conditions wasn’t the best but I only had a couple of hours light left so kept going. Nothing for 30 mins or so then I started getting bites. Bream and (Winden) Ide to 2kg. All bites easily readable even the lightest tip vibration bite I had to the ‘Thump rod rattling’ take from the big Ide. Was worried about pulling out on the bream near the net but the smooth action of the rod was just perfect.
Looking forward to the next trip eagerly. Was a pleasure to fish with it even only a short session. Certainly a great rod not just for big fish but can cover a broad spectrum.
