Our range of Cadence Ian Gordon Double Handed Fly Rods have been designed to provide the best actions required by salmon and trout anglers. Our rods have interchangeable sections, allowing you to change the action of the rod to suit your casting technique and the fishing situation you’re facing. All our rods are available in the standard configuration which is designed for the majority of anglers. By altering the weave of the micro fibres within the cloth, we use T-Mesh to make specific sections stiffer or softer without adding weight. When you have our standard rod, you can change the action by buying two different sections:

Full Flex – This is a parabolic action, some would describe it as soft, slow or through action. This is a rod that performs perfectly for those with a Long Stroke technique. From the people we see on the riverbank, 25 –30% would find this works for them.

Fast – This fast action rod has the stiffest butt section and is the action of rod favouring the Scandi or underhand technique.

This means that you only ever need to buy one rod of a length, you can then swap out the sections to change the action of the rod, giving you fantastic versatility for all fishing situations. This video explains how the concept works.

#8 Standard – This will be the action of rod favoured by most people, slightly stiffer than the Full Flex version, this will be a great set up for fishing on rivers such as the Dee, Spey or Gaula in Summer. The action fits well with both traditional and Scandi casting as done by most people we see. The rod also has the potential to deal properly with sinking tips, line and bigger heavier flies.

Additional Sections

#7 Full Flex – A medium to large river rod with a parabolic or full flex action suited to slightly longer Spey lines or overhead casting. A good choice for fishing Highland rivers such as the Helmsdale in summer. The rod action fits a more traditional casting style and will feel very light in hand. A great combination for delicate presentation of small flies at distance.

#9 Fast Action – With the potential to stiffen up two of the lower sections, we can change the 13’ 6” rod into a real short powerhouse with an action perfect for those Scandi techniques and fishing with lighter short shooting-head lines. This set up also has the potential for bullying bigger salmon or a great tool for dealing with large sea trout in South America.
